Are you concerned about how you will live successfully into old age in your community? This is a unique opportunity to impact the services that might be available to you as a senior or after you retire. Seeking 60+year old lesbian – particularly African-American or Latina – to participate in a federal initiative called NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities) beginning in the West 7th and Highland neighborhoods. The project goals include:

  • enhancing senior access to wellness and mental health resources
  • increasing opportunities for volunteerism for and by seniors
  • streamlining delivery of social services that allow seniors to “age in place” in their communities

A steering committee is forming and its first meeting will be on Friday, Dec. 18th from 10 am- Noon near DT St Paul. The initiative is reaching out to ensure that the diversity of senior (or those nearing retirement) residents are represented.

If you would like to be considered for the committee, are 60+ yr and live in one of the targeted neighborhoods contact the NORC Project Coordinator: Nancy E. Lee; NLee@jfssp.org; 651-690-8938.
