NORTHEAST MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSICAL FUNDRAISER JAN. 23

After the success of last year’s Guys & Dolls, there is already a buzz for this year’s school musical. After a long hiatus, last year saw the revival of an after school musical program at Northeast with over 50 students participating. This year’s show, Once On This Island, is a Caribbean adaptation of the popular Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” featuring a poignant story and catchy Caribbean-flavored score.

While the musical benefits from volunteers and community support, it still takes money. Northeast Middle School needs to raise $8,000 to make this opportunity a reality for its students.

Admission to the fundraiser is $25, tickets can be purchased in advance at local businesses (Sen Yai Sen Lek, Audubon Coffee, Barley Johns), Northeast Middle School or at the door. Ticket price includes refreshments as well as entertainment by Spices: A Women’s Ensemble (www.spicesvoices.com) and by local favorite the Belfast Cowboys, a Van Morrison Tribute band (www.belfastcowboys.com).

The event is generously sponsored by: Audubon Coffee, Barley Johns Brewpub, The Belfast Cowboys, Central Avenue Liquors, Holland Neighborhood Improvement Association, Kafé 421, Rock Solid Realty MN, Spices: A Women’s Ensemble, and Velma Wagner Psychological Services.
