In a press conference this morning. Here’s the press release.

Proposed legislation will focus on providing equality to same-sex couples during times of illness and death

St. Paul, Minn. – Project 515 will announce its 2009 legislative session priorities at a Capitol news conference tomorrow. The proposed legislation will address three of the 515 current statutes in Minnesota law that discriminate against same-sex couples and their families.

The news conference is expected to include remarks from Laura Smidzik, executive director of Project 515, Senator Yvonne Prettner Solon (DFL, Duluth), Representative Erin Murphy (DFL, St. Paul) and Tim Reardon, who will share his family’s story about the discrimination they faced following his partner’s death.

Founded in 2007, Project 515 is a Minnesota non-profit organization that is working to ensure committed same-sex couples and their families are treated fairly under Minnesota law. Information about Project 515 and a list of Minnesota’s discriminatory laws can be found at www.Project515.org.
